So, was the senior prom all it was cracked up to be? Eh, not really.
Mom woke me up early yesterday so that we could finish setting up my back account at the little town bank. I guess my debit card will be coming in a week or so. I won't even know what to do with these new tools. I'll be beside myself when it comes to integrating them into my routine. I at least need to learn how to use both checks and the debit card before I go away for school. Well, that'll be a while, but still. The truth holds.
After that, I had an hour or so to get Katie's gloves done for her Shadowcat cosplay, and I utterly failed. I barely got everything cut out, the sewing took forever, and I'd have to rip out a lot of I ever wanted it to work. I hate to say it, but yet another thing I had been looking forward to isn't going to happen, but this time due to my incompetence. This is on me. I can only be angry at myself for allowing such little time for a huge project. I hope I haven't disappointed anyone in my inability to keep up my word.
Giving up, I took a shower, gathered my things together, and went on my way.
I picked up Emily as I went to Katie's house. I had an interesting chat with her father about how teachers teach history classes incorrectly in grade school. I'll take his word for it, but history classes just aren't that interesting. I don't much care. Screw the whole thing about those who forget history or whatever are doomed to repeat it. Yeah, well, I think I learned that first hand already. But seriously, I still don't care.
Emily and I were still the first people to arrive at Katie's house, even though we were a little late, but everyone else came quickly. Alyssa set to work on fixing people's hair up. She did my hair, and I got a few compliments on it. Once Stephanie came, she helped with Emily's hair and did hers. Emily helped me with my make-up, and then Alyssa fixed it up.
We met at Katie's house at about 1:45 to 2:00. The guys came at about 5:00 and we hardly had time to spare in getting ready.
When it was nearing the time to meet the guys, we helped each other out of our shirts. Due to collaborative short sightedness, nearly every one of us forgot that we would have to pull a shirt up and over our heads after all our hair was done. Bethany wore a spaghetti strap shirt and Stephanie wore a button-up shirt, but the rest of us had regular t-shirts.
Afterwards, we wasted a lot of time taking pictures, meeting the dates up as pairs, and taking more pictures. I have a load on Facebook. Jessica, Kim's and Alyssa's sister, took pictures with my camera for me. She's not too bad with that camera. Most people have terrible issues with it. In all honesty, it is hard getting a clear picture from it. It likes adding a lot of noise or a motion blur.
At about quarter to six, I learned that we had a reservation at Olive Garden that would be disregarded if we were more than five minutes late. It takes much more than fifteen minutes to get there.
First of all, I screwed up when I started following someone from our party when leaving Katie's house to get to there. I should have taken North T. to the expressway, to the next expressway, etc. Instead, I took North T. to Mast, passed Dishman, nearly rear-ended another driver that slammed on their breaks, got stuck behind Tyler when he was delivering pizzas on Baker, and averaged 80 mph once I got on the expressway. I was less than ten minutes late, and only one car got there before me.
The food there was okay. I like Italian food, so that helps a bunch. Kim and I split a meal, and I couldn't even finish my half of it. I don't eat a lot anymore. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing anymore. Maybe I should just run again. I really do need to start doing that again. I miss being in shape. XD
I was still driving rather quickly on the way to prom, so we were the first ones at the doors. We could have gone in if it weren't for the fact that Stephanie had Bethany's prom ticket, and we took separate rides.
Prom wasn't actually all that exciting. It was pretty much the same as last year. I followed my little group around for a little, exploring the rooms, doing a game of putt putt (of which I really didn't care how poorly I did), and whatnot. Eventually I left on my own to say hi to a few people. I found Dewey (who was either very stoned, very drunk, or very both), talked with him for a while. He has very hard high-fives. Powerful, I suppose, would be a better word choice. I found Natalie and Mike together, and chatted with those two for a minute or so. I found Hoatlin and had a nice conversation with him. He's an alright guy in small doses, y'know?
We also watched a magic show. At first, I was not impressed. But eventually the magician showed that he had quite awesome slight-of-hand techniques. I'm still trying to figure out the physics behind his floating table trick. It doesn't make any sense to me. Although I never looked up. No one ever looks up. Damn it.
At about quarter to ten, I decided I was bored. I didn't exactly feel like dancing, and I couldn't pick a song I would have liked to karaoke. In truth, I had been talking about how I could probably get free bread sticks from Jake should I go in there and ask for them. I really wanted to drop in at work to say hi before they closed at eleven.
Emily tagged along with me. We hung out in the building for a while. Emily met Zach, Tyler, Jake, and Ben. Jake let me make some bread sticks (though he told me to have Ben do it for me so that I didn't ruin my dress; I didn't listen to him). I was told from nearly everyone there that I looked nice. Including Tyler.
So my friends have caught on that I'm crushing hard on him. There are just some things you can't help. Emotions are something that I have a harder time keeping a handle on. Pretty sure Tyler hasn't caught on, though. Which, I suppose, is a good thing, because I really don't want to make things awkward between us. I'm already an awkward person. He didn't say a lot, except to tell me that he saw me while I was driving behind him on Baker while he was delivering, and to shoot Zach down whenever he had the chance. He kind of just gave these vocal cues to keep Zach talking or to indicate he was following. Zach was on a chatty role that night. Although, I guess he normally is.
Before Tyler left on a delivery, I suddenly remembered that I hadn't invited him to my grad party yet, and did so. He told me he'd most likely be there. Now I'm really psyched. Tyler, Jake, and Kevin. It's going to rock.
Eventually Emily and I left for the relay for life and walked for a while. We ran into Mr. and Mrs. Scott, talked with them for a while. We got our photos taken (again) because we were dressed up in prom garb at the charity event. The first time was our arrival at the Dexter High School prom itself.
Then we went back to my car, ate a couple bread sticks, and debated over what to do. She didn't help me at all. I declared I had to pee, saw that it was eleven o'clock - closing time at Classic, and drove over there again to use the bathroom. I chatted with Jake for a good long time before he decided that he needed to go in and get shit done. Emily and I proceeded to change in the middle of the Classic Pizza parking lot, and then went to Friedman's house.
There we waited for a while, listening to music, and reading punny jokes off of Emily's phone, while we waited for everyone else to show up. We had a little party at Friedboy's house, at which he was very late for. I met Kent, Josie's boyfriend, discovered that he was class of 2010 as well, and we had quite some fun.
About one thirty-ish, we left for Katie's house again.
We got comfortable real quickly. At about two, we popped in the Tenth Kingdom, and watched that for a long time. I couldn't finish watching it, but I did stay up until at least 8:30 in the morning watching it. It's so good! It's just ... cute. Wolf is fucking adorable.
Then today, I left Katie's house at about one-ish, stopped by at my house pretty much long enough to drop my stuff off. I then went to the hair salon on Jackson to cut my hair, but they were closed. I went to the one on Zeeb, too, but they were closed. Taking Zeeb to Dexter-Ann Arbor, I eventually ended up at Great Clips. My hair is so short and cute! I love it!
After that, I put twenty bucks into my take again, went down Baker for the third time that day, went to Katie's house to track down a movie I left behind. She informed me that Alyssa took it with her to give it to me, so I texted her, asking if I could stop by and collect it. In the meantime, I took Mast to Classic Pizza, dropped off my grad party invite with Wes to give to Jake. I talked with him for a little bit. He was more friendly to me when I was off the clock than nearly any other time. After that, I started heading towards Alyssa's before I got her text. I doubled back, and ended up at home.
I was uploading prom photos onto Facebook when Andrew texted me. I didn't have his number, no idea where he got my number, but my guess is off of Facebook. He pretty much asked if he could come over so he could school me in putt putt because of my epic fail at prom. I dunno how the conversation degenerated or built up (whichever you prefer) to what it did, but I have a feeling he more or less asked me out. Well, to my house, but still.
Not sure what I think about that. Well, I know Tyler is unavailable (not to mention that he's nearly three years older than me), as well as Jake (still, Tyler is my crush), but it's not often that I would even think of a legitimate couple dynamic. I dunno. We'll see how it pans out?
Almost done with school, at least.
